You may have already come into contact with human trafficking and were unaware of the signs of victims whom are trafficked. Learn what to look out for with this free event that is for nurses, social workers, and case managers on September 25, 2018 from 4:30 pm – 7:00 pm. A complimentary meal, CE credits, raffles, and goodies from our sponsors will be provided as Deb Ellinger speaks on human trafficking.
Common Facts and Statistics on Human Trafficking from Polaris Project
1. In a 2014 report, the Urban Institute estimated that the underground sex economy ranged from $39.9 million in Denver, Colorado, to $290 million in Atlanta, Georgia.
2. In 2016, the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children estimated that 1 in 6 endangered runaways reported to them were likely sex trafficking victims.
3. In 2016, an estimated 1 out of 6 endangered runaways reported to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children were likely child sex trafficking victims.
• Of those, 86% were in the care of social services or foster care when they ran.

Easterseals Miles That Matter @ Stony Creek Metropark

Miles That Matter combines two former Easterseals events - Walk With Me Detroit and Color Me Extraordinary, to create an all-inclusive wellness event. Miles that Matter will include your choice of participation in a 1 mile walk or a 5K run, both of which will feature color powder, silly string, and other fun stations along the route. Donate or fundraise a minimum of $30, but additional fundraising is encouraged! Children 6 & under are free. Join us after the fitness portion for lots of wellness games, entertainment and family-friendly activities.
